NBA 2K24 Top 5 Unique Build Names
The final step of the NBA 2K24 MyPlayer creation process is the reveal of your MyPlayers “Build Name”. As archetypes have continued to evolve with each new 2k released the number of build names in 2k grows year over year.
Most players are targeting similar breakpoints with their stats which results in players seeing the same Build Names during their pre-game scouting every time they load in. 3 PT Shot Hunters and 3-Level Threats are great, but we will focus on the top 5 unique build names in 2K24 with exact details on how to make each build.
You can use the NBA2KLab Build Name Tool to view all the build names in NBA 2k24.
2-Way Walking Bucket
First, the 2-Way Walking Bucket build features a high layup rating (91), high close shot rating (92), and solid shooting attributes. High layup builds can be fun to play in 2K24, but you will need to take some time to master the various controller inputs and understand the situations where you should attempt a floater compared to a euro step or a hop step. The more layup options that you are comfortable with, the more you will get out of your high layup rating build. Don’t just settle for using your high layup rating to attempt contested layups You will be able to bully other guards in the post with your 92 Post Control and higher strength combo.
The shooting on this build features an 88 3 point rating and a 90 mid range rating so you will be shooting with confidence as you have all silver or higher 3 point shooting badges except limitless range, which will only be on bronze. Hallof Fame Open Looks, Gold Catch and Shoot and Gold Green Machine will make shooting quite easy on this build. Our Green Machine Testing showed a huge boost for the Hall of Fame version of Green Machine but this build has to settle for gold Deadeye. However, Gold Deadeye still tested quite well in our automated testing showing a consistent 10-20% boost for gold compared to silver on shot timings on the outside of the pure green window.
This build is a good perimeter defender due to a 93 perimeter defense rating but it will get pushed around on the interior. This build only has 53 steal and 74 strength so getting steals on ball is unlikely.
Here are the stats to create this build:
Point of Attack Stopper
Next, the Point-Of-Attack Stopper build. This build is designed to be an on-ball lockdown defender build. The build leans on physical attributes hard with a high strength rating at 95 which unlocks Hall of Fame Immoveable Enforcer and quality speed for a lockdown defender at an 87 rating. Additionally, 94 perimeter defense will unlock Hall of Fame Challenger and Gold Clamps to make you a menace on the perimeter. Hall of Fame Challenger unlocks at exactly 94 perimeter defense. It is a good idea to target breakpoints like these on your build. To make this easier for you, you can find all these break points using the Badge Requirements tool on 2kLab.
The finishing on this build is basically the bare minimum to be acceptable as the 45 driving dunk will have you just barely getting the ball over the rim but you do get plenty of standing dunk for a wing build. The 72 standing dunk unlocks Bronze Rise Up and Precision Dunker On one hand, the 72 standing dunk comes up short for Fast Twitch. On the other hand, the 71 Close Shot will save us here and unlock Bronze Fast Twitch.
The 77 3 Ball from the corner is enough to be serviceable but the 60 steal really is not going to be enough for anything but some lane steals. Additional weaknesses include mediocre ball handling, low free throw rating at only 54 and finally you’re a 6’6 lock instead of the 6’7 meta height for locks.

2-Way 3 Level Phenom
The 2-Way 3 Level Phenom build is a decent off ball wing build for playing the 2 in the park or playing the 2 or 3 in Rec. This build has serviceable defense on the perimeter and strong interior defense for a wing build. However, this build is not cut out to be a primary ball handler and is unlikely to create many points off the dribble with this build.
The shooting on this build is tremendous, it will be capable of shooting stand still 3s at an incredibly high percentage due to the 88 3-point rating. This 3-point rating is a little overkill as the build could have an 86 3-point rating and still get Silver Agent 3 while not seeing much drop off in make rating when comparing 86 and 88 3-point rating. For more information on make percentages by 3-point ratings you can view the 2KLab 3-Point Rating Test Video 2KLab 3-Point Rating Test Video
This build’s shooting is carried by its 93 midrange rating, which unlocks a series of higher tier shooting badges that will still apply to our 3 point shot. Additional badges unlocked due to the higher midrange include Hall of Fame Catch and Shoot, Hall of Fame Comeback Kid, Gold Deadeye, Gold Green Machine, Hall of Fame Open Looks and Hall of Fame Spot Finder. The return on investment for midrange on this build is tremendous.
Finishing on this build is just enough to get the ball over the rim with a 60 driving dunk and a 45 standing dunk. Don’t expect to get too many posters on this build and choose your dunk attempts wisely.

This build shines on the defensive end with 90 steal and 80 perimeter defense to go with 88 interior defense. Combine these stats with 86 speed and 82 strength and you should be capable of staying in front of your matchup on defense.
Here are the stats to create this build:
Ball Hawk
The Ball Hawk Build is a perimeter oriented defense first build that can really finish around the rim well with high finishing ratings and a long wingspan. The shooting on this build is more than enough to hit catch and shoot or stand still 3s. Highly skilled players will be able to create some 3s on this build.
Defense is one of the highlights of this build with a 91 steal rating, which unlocks Gold Interceptor, Gold Glove, and Gold Right Stick Ripper giving you all the necessary tools to create steals on ball or in the passing lanes.

The remaining stats for this build are all decent but strong enough to get the job done. An 80 3 ball is more than serviceable. The 83 ball handle/78 speed with ball combo unlocks most of the meta animations to create some space. However, one huge weakness of this build is the 53 pass accuracy which will have your passes moving so slow the will be looking like they were thrown by a toddler. A pass accuracy this low will not allow you to equip a quality Pass Style. For more in depth information on pass styles you can use the 2KLab Pass Styles Guide.

2-Way Glue Guy
This 2-Way Glue Guy build does not have any attributes that stand out. This build is the definition of a balanced build but this also means that it doesn’t really do anything great.
The shooting on this build gives you an 86 midrange rating which is combined with a 78 3 point rating to make you a reliable catch and shoot player and not much more beyond the arc. At a lower 3-point rating this build will want to make sure it uses the correct jump shot by selecting the widest green window jump shot for my build.
For finishing the build gets a 70 driving layup and a 60 driving dunk so you better be wide open if you attempt a shot around the rim. The standing dunk on this build is only a 45 so despite being 6’8 activating standing dunks will still be inconsistent.
The playmaking on this build is arguably its strongest point, but that does not mean much. The speed with ball is fine at 75 and the ball handle is at 81, which unlocks most meta moves. You won’t be a world beater at dribbling, but you should be able to create your own shot
